Homegoing Celebration of Esther Akindele My friend and neighbor, Esther Folake Akindele was born may 7th 1946 In Ekiti, Nigeria to a family of 5 children. She was the 4th born. She was very daer and precious to her parents, especially to her mother. As a matter of fact she was her mother favorite. After completing her schooling in Igede, Ekiti, she moved to Lagos in search of a better life for herself. She was able to secure a job at the Guinness Corporation. She really enjoyed working there as it enabled her to afford a very comfortable life style. It was while she was working there that she met her future husband. She later joined him in the United States, where she settled down and had her children. My friend had a unique quality of helping others, family and friends She was an extremely kind woman with a big heart of gold. She was instrumental in helpinf many of her nieces and nephews further their education. Even though she was many miles away in the United States while they were in her native country of Nigeria. She never forgot where she came from. I never knew of Esther to have a selfish bone in her. She toiled so hard for those she loved. Esther, you were like a lily flower, pure and sweet. Your life was love and labor. Your love for your family was ever so true. You never said goodbye, your spirit flew before we could raise our hands to touch you. You left us a legacy of honor, loyalty and faith in Jesus Christ that will live in our hearts forever. We miss you terribly. In our sadness, we are still able to find some consolation that someday; we will meet again at the feet of His throne; singing Holy, Holy, Holy, and blessed be thy name. Esther is survived by her husband, children, grandchildren, 3 siblings and a host of nieces, nephews and friends both in Nigeria and the United States. To God be the Glory for all the great things he has done and continues to do especially for allowing Esther to be my friend and neighbor.
