Homemade maple syrup Remember you can make your own butter and your own brown sugar. Ingredients 1 cup water 1 cup brown sugar 1 cup white sugar 1 tablespoon butter 1 tablespoon maple extract Directions Add all except maple extract to a saucepan, heat on medium to dissolve the sugars. Remove from heat after 5 minutes. Add the maple extract and butter. Mix well. Serve warm or bottle and keep in fridge up to 2 weeks. Depending on how thick you want your syrup you can cook this 5 minutes for thin, 25 minutes for thick, and somewhere in between for medium. Makes 2 cups.
