Homeschool Art Education Days Starting this fall, we’ll be hosting a once a month, three hour workshop that combines art, agriculture, history, cultural arts, and culinary sciences. Enrich your curriculum with real hands on learning. Students will do a project to take home and each month will feature a different theme. Enroll in advance to secure your spot today! Elementary- high school encouraged, this is a mixed age group. $25 a session/ per child $20/ a session / for 3+ children enrolling Tues. Sept. 17th 9-noon- Totally Tomatoes Make a felted tomato, learn about the history of tomatoes and concoct some stewed tomatoes using heirloom tomatoes, peppers, onions and herbs grown right here! We’ll even save some seeds for you to grow next year! Tues. October 15th 9-noon- Pumpkin Folklore We’ll be making baked pumpkin squares, learning about who grows the most pumpkins in the country, make a wet felted pumpkin bowl , and take home a squash and recipe for soup! Tues. Nov. 19th 9-noon- Native Americans Learn about the different ways that wool was used in Native American culture as we remember back to the pilgrims and the first Thanksgiving. We’ll create an historical dish and make a Hudson Bay Blanket-style hot pad for your holiday table Tues. Dec. 17th 9-noon- Holiday Traditions Explore traditions from England, Germany and Italy as we eat, create and celebrate the Christmas season across the world! Tues. Jan. 21st 9-noon- Presidents and Sheep Learn all about the way that patriotism and sheep went hand in hand, from the Colonial days through WWII. We’ll create a felted Lincoln ornament, make a presidential favorite snack and weave on a flag Tues. Feb. 18th 9-noon- Heart”felt” Create raspberry cookies, learn to set the table for tea and serve each other as we learn about Emily Post’s story. We’ll also make a heart pin. Tues. March 18th 9-noon- Shepherds Around the Globe Explore the traditions of shepherds, from the nomadic Mongolians, to Spanish Basque shepherds, to the Polish shepherds from the Carpathian Mountains. We’ll make an ethnic dish and a needle felted sheep. Tues. April 15th 9-noon- Springtime in the Garden Take a field trip to the farm, where we will plant in the greenhouse, see the barns and gardens and welcome Spring! Create a felted flower pin and enjoy a farm fresh snack. Tues. May 20th 9-noon – Critters and Crawlers Make a bug magnet, a dirt pudding snack, learn about the job of critters and creatures on the farm and play a farm game
