Homesteaders dug storage cellars nearby their house, to keep garden produce from freezing. Chester and Josie Avery use the earths natural warmth (52 degrees F) by lowering their greenhouse floor a few feet into the ground. Chester dug this with a shovel many years ago, and you can see how resistant the soil is to slumping,,,those walls are wet occasionally, but do not fail. They get marvelous production in a place where -20 degrees F is common. Yes, those look like citrus.
