Hon. Munah Pelham-Youngblood Leads Constitutional Rebels As “Level Plain Field Bill” Contravenes the Liberian constitution Democracy allows people to freely exercise their franchise by electing people into public offices to manage the state of affairs, that which will shield them for the smooth governance process of the state for equal opportunity for all (good laws for all, manage and equally distribute the Resources etc). But what seen to be shocking news to the people of Liberia was the fast track of the passage of a “LEVEL PLAIN FIELD BILL” introduced by Representative James Bannie of Maryland. The Bill when passed into law is calling for the resignation of all Executive appointees and people working in the NGOs’ Sectors who are desiring of contesting to resign one Year prior to election, according to the crafter of the Bill says that those people are controlling state resources, and if allowed, they will use it for campaign purposes in an electoral process; but what the public terms as atrocious decision on the part of Hon. Youngblood and her colleagues is the exclusion of themselves from the efficacy of the law; that is, they are excluded from resigning prior to election as if to say the resources use by them is their personal resources or an innate (inherited) personal properties from their people. What really nonplus (baffle) us is that there are many Bills that are languishing in committee-rooms that have not been passed, like the Maternal Mortality Bill, Decent work Bill and the Code of Conduct Bill for Public Officials. These are bills that the people of district 9, Montserrado County expected their lawmaker Madam Youngblood should had fought for the fast tracking of the passage of the said bills, rather than Level Plain field that have violated the Liberian Constitution: article 8, 18, 11c, 5a etc; but what the lawmakers considered as their reliance is Article 5c, which states: “The Republic shall take steps, by appropriate legislation and executive order, to eliminate sectionalism and tribalism, and such abuses of power as the misuse of government resources, nepotism and all other corrupt practices”. What does this have to do with people resigning one year prior to election, Madam Youngblood? Let us look at this natural phenomenon Death, this bill does not take into consideration By-elections. Article 37 of the Liberian constitution speaks about By-election when there is a vacant seat in the House caused by death or resignation. Who knows that any of the lawmaker will die and a by-election will be needed, what is the provision within the borrow Hash’s Law of 1939 from America (Level Plain Field Bill) to allow Executive appointees and NGOs workers partake in the by-election. Some of the young Intelligentsias (Emmanuel Beah, Matina Cooper and Alieu Seasay) interviewed by this paper said that their Honorable Youngblood needs to refrain from decisions that are not in the best interest of the vast majority. According to one of the interviewees, “Madam Youngblood is single handedly running the district like her super-modeling Agency (Monique Modeling Agency)”; In a related development, former students of her 419 vocational Institute the (LVTI) is planning another protest; after a recent protest calling for Madam Youngblood’s resignation. This plan protest is calling for the pro-activeness in the discharge of her duties in demand of their money as the school is no more in existence and express regret over madam Youngblood who spend most of her time in the compound of the Temple of Justice. For what? We don’t know! QUOTATION Thomas Sankara Said: “To give power to those who lack political consciousness is like giving gun loaded with ammunition to a bandit”
