Honest feedback on The Spot: I had high hopes for this place. Just got back from dinner with my husband and daughter. No bread before dinner which isnt a deal breaker, but its nice to have. Chowder my daughter got was good - a solid B. My husband got crab cakes and they were soggy and there were no pieces of lump crabmeat, clearly it was a low grade crab. Pretty full of filler breadcrumbs. He also got the pork sandwich and he said it was OK, not great, not too bad. French fries were greasy. They forgot my sushi and when I got it, the tuna was chopped and not a whole piece (I am guessing that they use the same tuna for the tuna tartar). To me, places that have sub par grade tuna try to hide it by chopping. The rolls were small and overpriced for what I got. Would much rather go to Inaka Sushi in Lawrence. My daughter got a peanut butter dessert that was OK, but nothing to write home about. All in all not worth the $100+ tab. I will say that being a chef myself, I have a high standard, but if they are going to serve mediocre food, the prices should be lower. So, I apologize to those of you that said the prices were too high in a previous post - you are right for what I experienced tonight! I will give it one more chance, but my guess is that I will stick with Holloways if I want to eat locally.
