Honestly we (U.S.) find ourselves in some kind of embarrassing - TopicsExpress

Honestly we (U.S.) find ourselves in some kind of embarrassing spots on the world stage. First, by giving away tax-exempt status to churches, the U.S. Government extends so-called corporate welfare status to them making them religious welfare recipients - with the compliments of all U.S. Taxpayers. Churches are supported by the U.S. Taxpayer base with the complete blessing of the U.S. Tax Laws, which is an endorsement of religion if ever there was one. Second, these entities that pay no taxes are now complaining that their civil rights (remember - since the Citizens United ruling, corporations (and tax exempt corporations - churches) are Citizens now.) are violated. I dont know about you - but as a natural citizen, our rights are routinely violated and we have to pay taxes. Third, we have de facto, made health care rules and access a right and obligation of citizens in this country, and have made a list of access rules that are now, enshrined as a sort of civil rights. So: I say if churches want to opt out of their TREASURED TAX EXEMPT status and have their own way with deciding what they will and wont honor as civil rights - then fine. Opt out, get out of the civil discourse and money-making from non-religious persons, and get on with it. You cant talk out of both sides of the collective fiscal mouth.
