Honor to the Troops Sergeant Corey Edwin Garver, 26, of Topsham, Maine, died June 23 when his dismounted patrol encountered an Improvised Explosive Device in the Paktiya Province of Afghanistan. Garver was assigned to Bravo Company, 1st Battalion, 506th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) as an infantryman. He joined the Army in June 2007. Garver’s awards include two Army Commendation Medals, Army Achievement Medal, two Army Good Conduct Medals, National Defense Service Medal, two Afghanistan Campaign Medals, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, NATO Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, and Air Assault Badge. Our hearts are broken for the loss of another brave hero. Go with God Sgt. Garver and know you are remembered always in our hearts. Garver is survived by his parents, Zachary D. Garver of Brunswick, Maine and Ellen H. Garver of Topsham, Maine.
