Honoring vets is a start...making sure our elected officials, - TopicsExpress

Honoring vets is a start...making sure our elected officials, local and federal, do the right thing by them takes more than listening to the pundits and whats being said. Check your representatives votes into consideration - and supporting a larger military DOES NOT equate to supporting our vets...that just puts more money in the pockets of contractors. The SHUTDOWN was anti-veteran (who are takers, btw). A volunteer army is the best army in the world because they do this as part of being a good citizen instead of being forced to serve. Even when I was in, retirees, especially those with disabilities and trauma got the short end. Stay engaged more than one or two times a year. But todays support is a far cry from when I was in...and that is always a good thing. That one soldier commits suicide every day and families are on food stamps tells you what has been going on since the Reagan buildup and extended deployments of a smaller force. Stay engaged to honor them...please.
