Hooligan part one. I dont remember what we were supposed to - TopicsExpress

Hooligan part one. I dont remember what we were supposed to do today, probably something important, but we didnt do it. After the fact anyway, I am really, really in so much trouble, and on the way home from the shelter, in the car, my window was open with Hooligan hanging his head out, Kels started to remind me, You know you are in so much trou... I interrupted saying I knew. We did do something I think is important. Hey Kels, after breakfast, lets go back to the animal shelter to see whats goin on. She looked at me like a mom would, but I nagged her until she gave in. I volunteered at the shelter many times in the past and had just adopted a puppy, knowing their best intentions arent always the best thing. Anyway when we got to the shelter we were greeted by the staff and walked back to the kennels. I wanted all of them, cats and dogs, but one in particular caught my attention. He is a 3 legged dog, and on his cage was a notice he was to be put down today. I couldnt let that happen. The shelter people told me he was healthy, 3 years old, had lost his leg after an accident, the owner had given him up to be put down, and he was on the today list. No way I said, borrowed some money from Kels, and it became official. Hooligan, a name I gave him, was brought out, walked without much effort, and we were off. He even slobbered Kels on the ride, which she tolerated. Were both animal lovers, Kels is just more practical and subdued than I am. In part I wanted Hooligan cuz I can relate. I have a death sentence hanging over me too. Mom heard us pulling in the drive, she was making lunch and when we opened the door, Mom were home, Hooligan, his head hung down with his tail between his legs, followed us to the kitchen. Caramel, our new puppy heard, came to see, and sniff her new brother. Oh no was all I first heard. Dallas, tell me this isnt happening again. Hooligan wormed his way over to my mom, nuzzled her hand, smelling lunch and she passed him a piece of chicken. I saw that mom, he likes you, we have to keep him, the shelter was gonna put him down. I know mom said, They already alerted me. By then it was settled, Hooligan must have known he was moving in and his whole attitude changed. He bobbed his head around, wagged his tail and licked everybody. Shoo out of my kitchen now, Ill call you when lunch is ready. We heard her call behind us, I hope his reputation doesnt live up to his name.
