Hooray I got another one of my projects funded - TopicsExpress

Hooray I got another one of my projects funded today!!! Everything that I learned I learned from trial and error and from fabulous Giving Pages. Well this is what I have learned thus far... 1. Sometimes a person will donate a large chunk of money because they liked my project. Hooray when this happens! 2. I have joined several FB giving pages- a place where a large community of individuals will come together to support one another in getting our projects funded. Yes it takes sometimes 80 donors to get it to the finish line but boy is it worth it just knowing so many people came together to help. Hooray! 3. I learned to trade votes to get our projects funded through oo (It was fun meeting new people). 4. I tried Limeades for Learning but I struggled getting votes. But hey 400 votes is not bad for a good cause. 5. I asked all my friends and family to not buy me presents but rather buy gift cards from DC. 6. I donated and have entered contest on other GPs and when I win I feel happy and when I do not win I feel happy because it went to a good cause. 7. I donate to my own projects. 8. I try my best to write thoughtful thank you notes to everyone who donates to my project. 9. I think about it before I write a BIG project. Sometimes i have the energy to promote my project or I feel confident that I will find a way. But when I dont I best just write a small project. I have had a few project expired and it hurts but I did nothing to promote them. 9. I have deleted some of my projects so that I could rewrite them. That was my own choice and I would advise against that. I almost deleted a big project and when I checked on it it was fully funded. I also had another SUPER big project and it needed one day to expire and I was sick at looking at that dreaded red clock that I vowed to delete it. Well I was glad I did not. 10. I have helped 96 projects get funded including my own. I like helping my colleagues get started and help them get funded. The advise that Southern Hospitality on Donorschoose has to offer is priceless. So with this long post, I say what have you learned or done to help your project or a colleagues project? I am looking for people that have thought outside the box, looking for creativity, or a great tip that others can use. I will pick 4 winners (maybe more) and I will donate $5 each to a project of their choice as a way to pay it forward. I will check on Tuesday evening and pick the winners. Thanks
