Hope against hope hopen… "One thing I like less than most things - TopicsExpress

Hope against hope hopen… "One thing I like less than most things is sitting in a dentist chair with my mouth wide open. And that I will never have to do it again is a hope that I am against hope hopen." This is something that I remember from my school days, not once understood its sense though never tried. May be the writer was a moron or may be a crystal ball gazer, but he surely made me understand the inference of the phrase. The dentist represents the corrupt Indian system, mouth wide open infers to the open wealth that we have and “I” is characterised as our suffering and surely the phrase means literally that there is no end to this. Although yours was a comic satire Mr. Ogden Nash, but the irony is that it has become our feeling.
