Hope everyone had a good weekend.. Theres a growing issue that needs to be addressed quickly... I wanted to mention that the staff here at HeritageUnits take very seriously the problems associated with incoming bad spots and how they may affect other users who may desperately may want to see a unit only to find out the spot posted contained not only bad information but was in fact false. Many if not all of our users know when theyve made a erroneous spot and notify us right away, but some are just throwing bad spots out without thinking first if it was correct info..!!! Lately, weve been seeing a larger number of bad spots coming from one community in particular.. RailCam Users... and to be more specific, the spots that are coming in from the Chesterton & Cresson areas. Although the staff here treats each bad spot on a case by case basis, a very high percentage of all recent bad spots from RailCam users have contained a higher than normal amount of false information, or were completely wrong. The result is that staff removes the spots as bad and penalizes the users reliability score. We also have the ability to throttle back the limit on the amount of spots per day a user can make as a result of use seeing too many bad spots.. Finally, we have the ability to immediately remove a user from the site if needed.. Again, we use these tools only as needed and when warranted. The staff here at HeritageUnits are now going to be keeping a closer eye on this specific area and well be taking even stronger action if required if the problem persists at these levels should the issue continue without correction directly from the RailCam community..!!!. What wed like to ask the RailCam user community as a whole is to not post your spot if youre not absolutely 90-100 percent sure of what you saw. RailCam camerass already are not the clearest viewing in the world in the first place, then you throw in nighttime or daytime spots made under darkness or limited visibility have been identified as the worst offenders.. It will not be of any dis-service to all users if you refrain from spotting the unit when not completely sure. Instead, wed rather have accuracy over fallacy. Remember every time someone in the RailCam community makes reoccurring bad spots, its not just hurting your community, its hurting HeritageUnits as a whole.. The RailCam spotter community has a reliability problem and only that community as a whole can fix the problems.. We here at HeritageUnits ask that the RailCam users discuss the problems and come up with ways to fix the issues quickly before the staff here at HeritageUnits takes proactive action by stepping up enforcement in this area.. Please note this post is simply staff at HU notifying users of an ongoing issue that needs to be resolved, and not an open discussion forum meant to pit one group against the other.. We invite comments that address the issue, not comments that are cheap shots to take advantage of the situation.. Were trying to fix the problem not make it worse. Be forewarned..!! We will remove comments and or users from the discussion that are considered to be harmful or out of the scope of this discussion. From all the staff at HeritageUnits, please have a safe week..
