Hope to see your smiling faces tomorrow at the- SECOND ANNUAL TAYLOR SHELLFISH-TIVAL July 24, 2013 from 11-4 Bow, WA—Family owned and operated Taylor Shellfish Farms is pleased to announce the Second Annual Taylor Shellfish-tival happening on July 24, 2013 from 11 am -4 pm at the farm off of Chuckanut Drive. (2182 Chuckanut Dr. Bow, WA 98232) The Shellfish-tival is a free family day focused around water quality education. Local organizations will have booths and activities for kids such as a live touch tank, low tide beach walks (at noon and 2 pm), shell art, water quality testing, toss the turd game, watershed model demonstration, water science, crafts and lots more! Food will be available for purchase. Dress for the weather and bring your boots if you would like to venture out on the farm! Each year shellfish farmers are required to shut down their farms following heavy rainfall events. The rain carries pollutants such as fecal coliform bacteria down to the bays of Puget Sound. This stormwater runoff makes the water, and the shellfish growing in it, unsafe to eat. These bay closures affect shellfish farmers’ ability to successfully run their farms. Bring your families, bring your boots and make your way down to Taylor Shellfish Farms to learn what you can do to help keep our waters clean! If you would like more information about the event please contact Nicole Hopper. Phone: 360-701-7637 E-mail: Nicoleh@taylorshellfish.
