Hope you like this new article I just wrote. Blessings to you. Slain to Receive! by Pastor Mike Mings Jesus was slain for the world. He was slain to receive for us, not for himself. Everything He accomplished on the cross was part of the atonement. Thereby are given unto us great and precious promises. Rev 5:11 And I beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels round about the throne and the beasts and the elders: and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands; Rev 5:12 Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power (dunamis - miracle working power), and riches (ploutos - wealth, money, possessions), and wisdom (sophia - worldly and spiritual wisdom), and strength (ischus - ability or strength), and honour (time - value, dignity, esteem), and glory, and blessing (eulogia - "eulogy" fine speaking, elegance of language,or blessing). Rev 5:13 And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever. We as believers have a right to "receive" everything Jesus died to give us. Everything he gave us is in His grace. That means these things have been freely given to us and we can receive them by faith! Dunamis - Miracle working power. Act 1:8 But ye shall receive power (dunamis - miracle working power), after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. Gal 3:14 That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; "that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith". Riches - Ploutos - wealth, money, possessions. 2Co 8:9 For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich (plouteo - wealthy, increased with goods). Wisdom - (Sophia - worldly or spiritual wisdom) Jas 1:5 If any of you lack wisdom (sophia - worldly or spiritual wisdom), let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. Jas 1:6 "But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering". For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. Jas 1:7 "For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord." Everything we "receive" from the Lord we receive by faith. So why can we receive "wisdom" because Jesus received it for us at the cross. He was slain to "receive" wisdom. Everything Jesus did for us at the cross is in His Grace. We have access into his Grace through "faith". Rom 5:2 By whom also we have "access by faith into this grace wherein we stand", and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. Joh 3:27 John answered and said, "A man can receive nothing", except it be given him from heaven. Everything Jesus received for us is contained in his Grace and we must receive it by Faith!!!
