Hopefully, this is something all of us can support. While in Ferguson, we wanted to spend a day ministering to people who have experienced loss. We drove down Florissant where most of the damage occurred. We were able to minister to several shop owners. Our final stop was the Chamber of Commerce outreach office where we asked if there was someone who wasn’t getting a lot of media attention, was a local-owned business, and could use some help. The former mayor of Ferguson was staffing the office immediately said, “Jeniece Andrews at Hidden Treasure Antiques. She lost everything.” He gave us her cell number and we called her four times but her voice mail was full. We sat down to have dinner at Cathy’s with our Denver Freedom Rider team and I called her one last time. She answered. I explained who we were and that we felt called to help her. She said she’d be over in seven minutes! We spent several hours with her and her husband. Would you become involved directly in helping a hurting family and a hurting city by contributing to her rebuilding efforts? Our church is giving $200 out of our Mercy Fund. Maybe you can give personally or also tap some funds at your business, church, or community organization. The start-up need is $50,000. Here is a video of Jeniece and a link to her GoFundMe account. gofundme/JenieceAndrewsforH
