Hoping that SOAS students will show solidarity and support for their Muslim peers who may be unfairly targeted and criminalised as a result of this bill. Whether you are white/non-Muslim/secular/lefty/hippie - infringement of Muslim students civil liberties should concern us ALL... “One of the things this will lead to is more intensive monitoring of societies within universities.” - we all know which societies these will be aimed at. Clearly no one can learn about an urgent policy issue if those who understand it best are too scared to speak. What is not clear to me is that the people who have been convicted of plots were radicalised at university. There is no convincing evidence of that at all.
