Hopkins Update........ The pregnant harbor seals continue to show up on Hopkins Beach. Today, Rascalette was there and is definitely pregnant. She is one of our highlighted females who has given birth several years in a row since we have been following her. Also on the beach today was Lobster one of our more frequent males that spend time at Hopkins. We had a seal today with a large laceration on its chest. It is a clean cut and even though it looks bad should heal okay on its own. We want to remind all the kayakers and paddle boarders that they need to remain out of the cove of hopkins beach and that they should not even park at the entrance because this can flush the seals from the beach. This action could cause one of our pregnant females to go into premature labor. We will be discussing this more in the near future but in the meantime, please let everyone know to always just pass by hopkins and never enter the cove. Thank you and the seals thank you. Remember Saturday and Sunday is WhaleFest at Fishermans Wharf.
