Horoscopes by Jonathan Cainer Thought for the day 7 January 2015 Comets are annoyingly unpredictable. All the other tools in an astrologers prediction-making kit are reliable. We always know exactly where each planet will be so we always calculate an accurate chart. If theres a doubt, it is never over the data, only whether we are interpreting it correctly. Skeptics say, all interpretation is nonsense. Our experience tells us otherwise. Our art may not be perfect but it still allows us to paint some revealing pictures. The skeptics, we can live with. Its the comets that exasperate us! And, as I shall explain tomorrow, theres now a new comet! Aquarius Jan 21 - Feb 19 aquarius You have to put your shoes on before you can go out for a walk. That means you have to find your shoes. That may mean you have to think about where you were the last time you took them off. And if, along with those shoes, you also find a jacket that needs cleaning, a letter that needs posting and a to-do list that remains current, well, then at least you will have plenty to keep you busy on that walk. Before you can start making the most of future opportunities, past responsibilities must be dealt with. Pisces Feb 20 - Mar 20 pisces If at first you dont succeed, ask yourself whether you are trying to solve your problem by doing something thats a little too stressful and convoluted. Consider the possibility, today, that there may be an easier way to attain your objective. Even if, in the past, you have tried, yet failed, to save time and effort and have since resigned yourself to a more challenging set of plans, you should revisit those old, more hopeful, ideas. Some of them may yet prove to be much easier to implement than they were last time. Aries Mar 21 - Apr 20 aries Yesterday, attempting to make a serious point in a whimsical way, I quoted the song, Who put the bomp, in the bomp bah bomp bah bomp? I meant it as a rhetorical question to illustrate when people pick up tricky questions, they end up getting blamed for the very existence of the question itself. Several musicologists have since suggested various culprits. I may name one tomorrow. Meanwhile, just be aware that someones interest in a particular problem, doesnt automatically make them the perpetrator of it. Taurus Apr 21 - May 21 taurus Plants are not tiny seeds one moment and towering trees the next. Or, rather, they are but the distance between those two moments is comprised of many other moments during which the process of growth seems extremely slow and subtle. It is only when we miss those moments - or forget about them - that we become a little taken aback by the speed at which change can appear to occur. You are now trying to understand how a process has taken place without you noticing. The clue is in those missing moments. Gemini May 22 - June 22 gemini The political correctness movement, has all but put paid to the glamour of Davy Crockett. He may have been a great hunter, famous for wearing a raccoon skin hat but these days, all that implies regrettable animal cruelty. This brave pioneer, is now all but forgotten. Yet his attitude should still set an example to us all - and especially to Geminis who are now adjusting to a new cosmic configuration. Why should you allow yourself to be daunted by experiences that are new and difficult? You can yet conquer your inner wild frontier. Cancer Jun 23 - Jul 23 cancer Whats the difference between a schizophrenic and a hypocrite? I ask this by way of a rhetorical question only. Dont feel obliged to answer. And, of course, I dont mean schizophrenic in the medical sense of the word. Im just trying to point out that, one way or another, there is often a stigma attached to saying one thing and doing another. Yet this, on its own, cannot be a reason to seek change or self-improvement. Dont feel ashamed now, of an apparent inability to walk your talk. You may yet find a way to do so consistently. Leo Jul 24 - Aug 23 leo Hey! Teachers! Leave them kids alone! All in all, its just another brick in the wall. So sang Roger Waters of Pink Floyd. Still a popular protest song, it expresses outrage at an oppressive educational system, though it is to be hoped that attitudes and policies have changed for the better. Too many of us seem to have taken on collateral damage from our school days. Part of successfully implementing your New Year resolution may require you to rebel today, against an idea that was once too firmly foisted upon you. Virgo Aug 24 - Sep 23 virgo They call you Lady Luck but there is room for doubt. At times you have a very unladylike way of running out. So sang Frank Sinatra in the movie Guys and Dolls. It may have been ambitious of the composer Frank Loesser, to attribute gender here. There are many who feel it is unwise to ever anthropomorphise. Luck may or may not be a lady for you, today. But, in so far as it exists at all, it will support you. This will prove more helpful if only you can provide it with something that is even slightly supportable. Libra Sep 24 - Oct 23 libra Fairy tales can come true, it can happen to you, if youre young at heart. So sang Frank Sinatra. Although, in verses that were never written or published, the composers might well have added and then the same mistakes can be made over and over again. There are serious drawbacks to thinking and acting like a teenager and the older we get, the more we tend to encounter these. Be young enough, today, to believe in a fairy tales and mature enough to appreciate the wisdom that can only come from experience. Scorpio Oct 24 - Nov 22 scorpio People once believed that smoking was harmless. Some doctors would even endorse particular brands of cigarettes. Belatedly, the pendulum of our collective consciousness has swung the other way. Indeed, there are probably now some health and safety apparatchiks who, even as we speak, are debating the unknown risks of breathing air. Can it really be a wise activity? Isnt it true that everyone who has ever lived and breathed has eventually ended up dead? What does that tell us then? Dont take a fear too far today. Sagittarius Nov 23 - Dec 21 sagittarius You really need to stick to your guns today. But what if you havent got any guns? What if you never had any or surrendered them some while ago as part of a treaty of peace and disarmament? Actually, if you have no power or influence, all the better. Stick to the mounting points on which your guns would have rested, if only you still had them. Let it be clearly seen that you pose no threat and that you want only the best for the sake of all. This fact may yet prove to be the most persuasive weapon you can possibly wield. Capricorn Dec 22 - Jan 20 capricorn Who wrote the history books? And what works did they refer to? And the authors of those earlier, older, books, where did they get their facts from? How far can we ever really trust anyone who says this is how things used to be and this, therefore, is why they have become the way they are today? In order to bring about the change you currently seek, it may be necessary to challenge a long chain of assumptions. Be wary today, of what seems to be set in stone. But be gentle as you strive to dissolve the concrete.
