Horror Movie Marathon 10/11 Movie 11 - Evil Dead 2 1987 Scare Factor - Aunt Liz would pee The Evil Dead movies are great. Although it takes a certain someone to really love and value them for what they are. They weren’t made with huge budgets or with a bunch of people on computers. Sam Raimi did such a good job and because of these movies; became a horror movie king. I do like the first Evil Dead movie but between the first and second; the second one is my favorite. It has so many memorable parts. Like the chainsaw corpse and the laughing dear head. Also the wall spilling the insane amount of blood is great. Evil Dead 2 takes place outside the first movie. I guess it’s a “revision.” Bruce Campbell returns as Ash and in this one his role is much more intense and also much more comedic. Ash and his girlfriend Linda arrive to spend a nice romantic time together in a cabin. But soon the evil forces of the night take over Linda’s body and Ash is stuck fighting the terror of the night. He is soon met with other people and they to succumb to the evil and so on. The movie is a great deal of fun the entire time and there parts that will make you laugh. Raimi respires some of his great camera techniques that he did in the first movie. The view of the demon charging at full speed through the house is a classic shot. The blood and gore is always over the top but that’s what makes the movie so good. I really think this movie is the edifice of the term “campy” in horror. But I love campy, when it’s done right and Evil Dead 2 does that completely. Enjoy.
