Horror Movie Marathon 10/23 Movie 23 - Trollhunter 2010 Scare Factor - More awesome than scary This little movie is another found footage flick that is one that I enjoyed. However, I think it would have made for a better movie if it had been shot with a traditional cinematography camera instead. Atleast make the guy holding the video actually holding one of those up-to-date cameras that has a no shaking kind of rig. I dont even know if that actually exists. But despite that the movie is great and will be a great time for anyone. Its not a horrific movie and its not graphic at all. Its just real fun and you wish that it was a true story. Trollhunter is a Norwegian movie where these college film students are searching for a man that is only known as a bear poacher. I guess Norway has strict hunting laws and only allows certain hunters to hunt bears and this one guy is doing it illegally. So the students find this man and it turns out that he doesnt hunt bears, but Trolls. Actual Trolls, the creatures of the old Norwegian lore. The creatures kids heard about in their fables and stories told by their grandparents. Existing like other creatures you find in the woods. The group gets to ride a long with this hunter as he patrols regions of Norway in search of the different breeds. The movie is so vast in Troll lore and it approaches the creatures as if they are a normal animal being monitored by the government. Kind of like how we monitor humpback whales or something. I love this movie and everything about it. Its great how the directors included the myths about Trolls in this film. From Trolls being able to smell a Christian mans blood. To Trolls turning into stone in sunlight. Its all there and its great stuff. The interesting thing is that its all explained through means of sceience. Trolls arent mystical. Theyre just animals that get real pissed. I love how the different breeds of troll are depicted. After seeing this movie I went online to learn Troll lore and even thought about how cool it would have been if Disneys Epcot center had made their Norway ride resemble this movie. Another thing is that the effects are extremely well done. Everything looks clean and the trolls dont have a fake look to them at all.
