Horror Movie Marathon 10/30 Movie 30 - Behind The Mask: The Rise Of Leslie Vernon 2006 Scare Factor - Greatness This is by far one of the best horror films of all time. For once I owe this movie to my brother Jon Scovell. Usually I am telling him to watch a movie, but he got me to watch this one. Those that are fans of the Halloween, Nightmare On Elm Street and Friday the 13th would greatley appreciate this movie. Those that are mega fans of the horror genre will have a blown mind when seeing this movie. Imagine every horror killer you know about. Jason, Freddie, Chuckie, Myers and Leatherface. Now imagine the preparation and personaly lives of these people as if they were hard working Americans just trying to accomplish their dreams like you and me. Well, thats what you get with Behind The Mask! Its about a group of film students shooting a documentary about a self-declared slasher named Leslie Vernon. The host of the film is Taylor Gentry. He invites Taylor and her crew into his home and life as he prepares himself for a night of slaughter. Giving the team the insights of the trade. How he trains, how he prepares the environment, how he sets up the virgin girl and even how a group of teens will meet their demise. Its all a crafted system that the documentary team gets to witness first-hand. The teams believes it all to be a ruse, yet insightful but still not taken seriously. But soon Taylor and her gang become too involved and this wannabe slasher; turns out to be the real deal! Its such a great movie. Everything is broken down into some insane science. The motive of Leslie and even the picking of the place and victims is perfect. All made for a perfect night for a slasher. The movie puts all horror movies into a completely new percpective. Leslie even has an old retired killer named Eugene to be his mentor. Eugene is played by Scott Wilson (Hershel from The Walking Dead) and his character (and his wife) are actually real good. Nathan Baesel plays Leslie Vernon and he is amazing. Its cool because Leslie shows so many different degrees of his personality in the movie and Baesel does it so well. Its not a scary movie. Even when things go down and Leslie is on his killing spree; the gore is limited. Thats a good thing because you dont want that to take away from the point of the film. youtube/watch?v=t432rePirH8
