#Horror #Mystery His bare feet jumped madly at their sudden meeting with the cold surface. He shivered and fumbled blindly around his body. He realised he was completely naked. He was crouched in a foetal position. He listened. Only the sound of his laboured breathing and the beating of his heart in the ear shattering silence. He had not ventured to open his eyes, but tried now. Blackness. A blackness as bright as the midday sun. He closed them again and searched for his temple as his head throbbed with pain. He inched forward on all fours. Like some primordial creature, fingers and toes extending, seeking out its environment, checking for potential threats and predators. He stopped. He did not know how long he had crawled. He had no recollection of time, or, of a before this now. His name? His purpose in this place? He knew nothing. His stomach rumbled noisily in the silence like some subterranean beast. He flicked his tongue over parched, cracked lips. He opened his eyes once more, shading them with one hand. He blinked rapidly as he gradually fashioned a sense of something from the nothingness.
