Horror Project/ Part 12 of 31: Fearing television ratings The 1987 WNUF Halloween Special They say that nostalgia is business, and this only cost $1,500 to make. Thats a tenth of Paranormal Activity, and well, I look at this movie and I cant believe that it only cost them only that much because it looks like an actual authentic broadcast. Growing up in Prince George, I get a lot of kicks out of the smalltown local humor present here. Found footage is used extremely effectively here because we have TV broadcasters acting for the camera and we cant really tell what is staged and what is not. The whole thing is mostly comedic and more than a tad predictable, but the acting and vision are spot on. We get fast forwards through the weather and commercials we have already seen, and we get commercials for things like tampons, pizza places, arcades, and even budget sci fi television shows...its just genuinely comfy and fun. Its trashy material played sincerely. The original run for this movie (that came out last year) was on VHS tapes. Now you can find DVDs for sale online if you arent lucky enough to catch a stream.
