Horse slaughter is not what a lot of people think it is. Horse slaughter plants want healthy big strong horses not sick injured horses. So when people say slaughter is good and that its a place for the sick injured horses well think again! Horses suffer from the beginning of their journey to slaughter. They are bought from auctions, sold to the kill buyer, traded off, starved, go without water, put in mud pits, have no shelter, no hay, no grass and no fresh water! They are crammed in a trailer so tight they can not move. They are beat, kicked, shocked, stabbed, and whipped repeatedly. They then arrive at the plant where they will be stunned with a ice pick or gun and then hung and cut open alive. Many mares are pregnant and many horses were promised a good home. Kill buyers are compulsive liars ad will tell you that your horse is going to a stable or to their 5 year old daughter! Do not send your horse to auction and do not sale your horse or give away your horse without doing a very thorough investigation and asking a billion questions! The sick and injured horses one would see at a kill lot is one that came in with another truck load of horses. That horse will be shot and pushed in a ravine if it doesnt dont get through the doors of the plant! The fillies and colts are slaughtered right beside mom and if they are lucky enough they get left behind at the kill lots to make room for a larger horse on the trailer and they have a better chance of being rescued from those like me who try to save all possible! Slaughter is horrific! Slaughter is pure hell! It needs stopped but will continue until more people step up and take action! Make yourself heard!
