Horsepeople... Here is hope! As many of you know Equine Vasicular - TopicsExpress

Horsepeople... Here is hope! As many of you know Equine Vasicular Stomatitis virus is alive and very active in our state of Colorado this summer (especially northern CO right now.) Its painful for the horse and has no cure or treatment, A couple days before I was scheduled to take my horses off the pasture on which they are presently residing, I received a call telling me the whole ranch was in state-mandated lock-down due to horses infected with VS (this is highly contagious and no horse can go in or out of a premises that is infected.) A couple days later, I went down the mountain to check my horses...mine was not mentioned in the call to have been infected. What I found, though was that Tanner was so broken out with lesions and miserable (as you can see in photos 1-3 below) and he had drool pouring out of his mouth all way to the ground (another of the symptoms.) Since I wasnt expecting to see him infected, I had limited supplies on hand, but as an Equine Massage Therapist, I always have basic tools with me. I use NATURAL sources. I had therapeutic grade essential oils in an ointment blend. Without cleaning him (I had nothing to clean with) I slathered the ointment all over his muzzle and into his nose. I also used Lavender on all four coronary bands of his feet. Thats it (except for an energy medicine technique I call Vibrational Attunement.) That is all I could do, except spray both horses down with fly spray to avoid others being contaminated or for him to be re-contaminated by flies from other infected horses. I was told, and research revealed, that this would be a 10-14 day painful ordeal for any horse, where he probably wouldnt want to eat (good that he is fat this year) or drink (not so good.) Keeping the lesions clean to avoid secondary infection and administering pain medication in hopes to help the horse be out of pain and therefore want to eat and drink, were all that could be done. I came back down the hill about 48 hours later. Photos 4-5 are what I then found. I was amazed! About 85% better! NO drooling. No evidence of pain. No lethargy. No crusted infection in his nose. I did the same process as the day before,(adding a Protandim tablet that I also use often with humans.) The next day, yesterday, I went back down and found Tanner to be pretty much healed up...just a little pink now (photos 6-7.) Was it my imagination? No, the vet had been out to the ranch earlier in the day and said Tanner now has no VS. Now was THAT a quick heal up for the books or what?! 4 days? I am so glad for Tanner! I appreciate any comments, especially from anyone who has had experience with this disease. I would, of course, gladly share the products as well. I have been in the business of holistic animal care for about 10 years now and utilize and endorse many natural modalities. What did I use? Young Living therapeutic grade Lavendar and Animal Scents ointment, Protandim Nrf2 synergizer, and I played with the vibrational frequencies!
