Hoshiarpur, October 6 Dr Sukhchain Singh Gill, SSP, Hoshiarpur, told this correspondent here today that he had ordered an inquiry into the allegations of teasing a woman teacher of Government Elementary School, Mona Khurd, by Paramjit Singh, District Education Officer (Zila Parishad), Hoshiarpur, to the Station House Officer of Mehtiana police station. After getting his inquiry report, action would be taken accordingly. The Mehtiana police station has registered a case against Paramjit Singh, District Education Officer (Zila Parishad), Hoshiarpur, under sections 354 and 506 of the IPC on the complaint of the said woman teacher for allegedly making a bid to outrage her modesty. In her complaint the victim teacher stated that Paramjit Singh had come to Mona Khurd school on October 3, 2013 on the pretext of checking school records. Finding her alone, he allegedly tried to molest her. The officer threatened to get her suspended if she did not oblige him. The said District Education Officer further instructed him to meet him at local Government College, Chowk and in the meantime he called from his mobile No 94634 45089 to her six times on her mobile number, she further alleged. In a press release Vikas Sharma and Baljit Singh, President and General Secretary of ETT Teachers Union, Hoshiarpur district unit, alleged that the said victim woman when reported the aforesaid matter to the Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development), Hoshiarpur, instead of taking any action against the District Education Officer, he allegedly insisted her not report the matter to the ETT Teachers Union. Office bearers of the Union demanded immediate suspension and transfer of Paramjit Singh and Harbir Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner, (Development) and action against them. Harbir Singh refuted the charges of the union and told that he had already ordered an inquiry into the allegations levelled by the said woman teacher against the said District Education Officer to Deputy CEO of the Zila Parishad. As soon as he gets the inquiry report he would take action accordingly. He said that some of the union leaders who had been transferred by him, were trying to settle their score. ...........................................................................
