Hostage shot by cops while known to be in getaway car. Pursuit should have been, by established protocol, abandoned. Location and identification of vehicle was observable from the on-scene air unit. Shots fired by the suspects at the pursuing police do NOT warrant return fire from pursuing police on a public road, ESPECIALLY when a hostage is known to be in the vehicle. This police department demonstrates a willful contempt and disregard for innocent life. I guess that ensuring the recovery of the Federal Reserve Notes, if there were any, was somehow essential to the police department, whereas ensuring hostage safety was simply not a concern????
