Hostel outreach worker (immigrant-orientation services) Terms of Employment: Temporary, Part Time, Weekend, Day, Evening Salary: $20.00 to $30.00 Hourly for 24 hours per week Anticipated Start Date: As soon as possible Location: Windsor, Ontario (3 vacancies ) Skill Requirements: Education: Completion of college/CEGEP/vocational or technical training Credentials (certificates, licences, memberships, courses, etc.): Not required Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years Languages: Speak English, Speak French, Read English, Read French, Write English, Write French Work Setting: Community or neighbourhood centre, Government agency Target Groups or Clients: Male, Female, Seniors, Families, Culturally diverse groups Type of Community or Social Service: Education or training, Socio-economic needs or conditions (housing, nutrition, unemployment, financial assistance), Settlement services for new immigrants Specific Skills: Obtain information and prepare reports or case histories, Appraise clients needs or eligibility for specific services, Implement life skills workshops, Assess clients relevant skill strengths and development needs, Conduct follow-up assessments, Develop, coordinate and implement the delivery of specific services within the community, Resolve conflict situations, Implement behaviour management programs, Provide personal services support to persons with special needs, Establish registry of special needs support workers, Liaise with other social services agencies and health care providers involved with clients, Maintain program statistics for purposes of evaluation and research Additional Skills: Administrative and office activities, Research techniques, Sign language Security and Safety: Criminal record check Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Fast-paced environment, Work under pressure Transportation/Travel Information: Own transportation, Own vehicle, Willing to travel, Willing to travel regularly, Valid drivers licence, Travel expenses paid by employer, Public transportation is available Work Location Information: Urban area Other Languages: Arabic Essential Skills: Reading text, Document use, Numeracy, Writing, Oral communication, Working with others, Problem solving, Decision making, Critical thinking, Job task planning and organizing, Significant use of memory, Finding information, Computer use, Continuous learning Other Information:Candidates must have excellent French and English skills.
