Hot Fire Response training for EUPOL personnel in Kabul A Fire Response Training for EUPOL members was concluded on Wednesday 22 October with the realistic live fire exercise at the Afghan Central Fire Station. Before that, the participants had passed theoretical and practical studies related to basics of the Fire Response, Hazards Control and Safety Procedures. The training was designed specifically for EUPOL personnel to be ready to act professionally during actual fire incidents at EUPOL camps and to perform basic smoke diving rescue operations. For the first time in their life, they practiced to use breathing apparatuses in a safe environment as well as then experiencing a real fire environment exercise with temperature up to 800 C°. The training was conducted by the Fire and Disaster Police Unit advisers and the main trainer was EUPOL Mentor/Advisor Riku Rantala. EUPOL Fire Marshal, Jaanus Teearu explained: “The safety of mission members is our first priority. The training of our staff on how to react during real fires at EUPOL camp, familiarising them to the hazards in our camps and introducing fire response techniques and principles with opportunity to practice real fire environment is essential to ensure our preparedness for disasters.”
