Hot Hob blues jam review 2-9-14 Unfortunately, Jamie Basey had to cancel at the last minute, but my old friend Jimmy Gayner was able to do the guest spot at short notice. And what a night we had with seventeen jammers and a large audience. House band - Jimmy Gayner and the Hot Hob trio 17 jammers Guitar 8 Rob, Matt Hunt, Dave Warne, David Wynn, Drew Sutton, Aaron, Tony Myers & Stevey. Bass 4 Drew Lang, Angelo, Tony Myers & Dave Warne Drums 5 Colin, Steve, Maisie, Bill and Michael Vocals 2 Michael and Drew Lang Bongos 1 Clive Big Hot Hob welcome to newbies Drew Sutton on guitar, and Colin & Steve on drums. Do come back soon. Absolutely delighted to see bassists & drummers back at the Hob, although apologies to Michael on drums, for only getting one song. Jimmy filled the stage with all sorts of wonderful vintage equipment including a 4x12 Marshall cab !!! No time for rehearsals, so the band played some of Jimmys better known songs including Dont you want a man like me, Shake your money maker, If you be my babyand Used to love you. Although we had eight guitarists , not one of them sung, so the ever reliable Michael, ( what would we do without him ), Drew Lang and myself were on vocal duty. It was Maisies second week on the drums, and she had little trouble with the three songs that Michael threw at her, except maybe perhaps stopping LOL After four excellent bands there was time for Jimmy to do two songs, finishing with ZZ tops Sharp dressed man. Thanks to all our helpers , Jan , Dee & Alan. Next week is trio week. The week after I am on holiday and Claire & Andy will be running the jam ( not to be missed ). The week after that, I am delighted to welcome back the ever popular Dr Ika. Thanks for supporting the jam, see you soon. John
