Hotel drama. Im in the suburbs of Chicago for a Ferret Show. I chose a pet friendly hotel halfway between the show venue and my nieces. My downtown fancy schmancy lawyer son even took the train out to spend some family time. Sad because the little ones were asleep, but enjoyed seeing their new homes and having few laughs and some Portillos beef sandwiches. Dropped son at train station, ready to get back to my hotel room and crash. I had just closed and locked my door ....when someone knocked. I thought it was one of my fellow show goers, and almost threw open the door. I peeked out the window and there was a man gesturing and yelling he had left something in the room last night and needed to get in. I shut the curtain, he kept knocking on the window. At that point Im shaking. I fumbled the phone, trying to read the little sticker for the front desk number. When they answered I just said There is someone trying to get in! The desk clerk said he would be right down. Meanwhile I texted my son and looked everywhere in the room for whatever the man wanted so he would go away. I heard some talking outside, then quiet. I got an apologetic call from the front desk. Evidently the man had been dissatisfied with the office handling the situation and had decided to take matters into his own hands. I never found any lost object in the room. I stacked the ferret cages against the door and hope to get some sleep before tomorrows long day. Gee thanks Red Roof
