Hotels, eateries in Lakeside face LP gas shortage - Restaurants and hotels in Lakeside, a popular tourist hangout in Pokhara, are facing shortage of liquefied petroleum (LP) gas since long. The shortage has become so chronic that restaurateurs say they would be compelled to shut down their business if they do not get LP gas within two days. We won´t be able to serve our guests if we do not get LP gas within two days, Gopi Bahadur Bhattarai, president of Restaurant and Bar Association of Nepal (REBAN) Pokhara, said. We have been visiting LP gas bottlers and requesting them to ease supply at the earliest. Bharat Raj Parajuli, operator of Peace Plaza Hotel, said 15 of his 19 cylinders are already empty. I´ve been using four cylinders in my kitchen. I would have to shut my hotel once I run out of gas, he said, adding that LP gas dealers have gone out of contact. Meanwhile, Paschimanchal Hotel Association Pokhara has urged the government to ease LP gas supply at the earliest. Issuing a statement, Hari Prasad Sharma, president of the association, said: Short supply of LP gas has severely affected hospitality sector.
