Houlagans’ Rest invites you to salute our red, white, and blue stars! RED STARS!! Our current Akita mix: AKAGI. The handsome boy has a buoyant step and light heart. He loves to play with toys including the famous Akagi Tossing Kong Game (He tosses it to himself and rolls on it, then tosses it again). Some dogs are fine with him; some dogs are not. Akagi’s intelligence and loyalty would make him a boon companion! TODDY, the Heinz 57, All-American pup. At his first adoption event, Toddy lied down, folded his front feet under him, and watched the world pass by. Possessed of fine, but serene energy, Toddy would like someone with a quiet confidence. CINAMMON, a Red-Nosed Pitbull. We often presume that life for a pitbull tossed away in a kill shelter presumes damaged goods. Cinammon’s optimism and j’oie de vrie outshine the traumas of her life. This girl focuses intently on the person who praises and nurtures her. She wants a space of her own with a person of her own! WHITE STARS! PEARL, a boxer mix. This young girl has had a litter, survived starvation, and moved past an attack from another dog. She has pale green eyes that follow your every move. Pearl keeps her crate neat and loves to run around the yard. She’s apprehensive of dogs that try to jump on her back, or present with stiff posture, but she doesn’t court trouble! Sweet, sweet pup who really just wants to sit in your lap. WOLFGANG, a Great Pyr mix. This older boy has the softest fur on his ears! He craves human contact, but doesn’t try to overwhelm. A nifty problem solver, Wolfgang should have years to offer the person who connects with his piercing gaze and big heart. MILKSHAKE, a lab mix. This young lady has recuperated from her spay and is ready to go to a Forever Home. Don’t let her color and name fool you: she isn’t plain vanilla. Milkshake readily responds to consistent direction and just wants approval. She likes to play with other dogs, keeps a clean crate, enjoys a good puzzle, and likes car rides! BLUE STARS! BLUE, an American Bull Dog mix. This big boy isn’t really blue, but who could pass up a dog named Blue? Neat dog. He eagerly watches the person with him and has moved past the haunting stare he once shared. Happy to see people and be with people, this energetic, athletic dog would be a great hiking partner, or couch potato. YANKEE DOODLE PUPS! These beautiful pups are Blue Tick Hound/Mountain Feist Mixes. These monkees have plenty of energy and will tell you all about. Unlike many rescue pups, the denizens of this litter have a normal outlook on life: people are for lovin’, food, water, playin’, and shelter. They’ve already had their 3rd shots and bordetella vaccine to boot!
