House Republican Spending Bill Protects #Fishing Tackle The American Sportfishing Association reports, A provision to prohibit federal funds from being used to regulate lead fishing tackle and ammunition under the Toxic Substance Control Act was included in the omnibus federal spending bill.... The President announced plans to sign the bi-partisan spending bill. While this is great news, it does not stop the State of California from imposing its own regulations on fishing tackle that include lead, zinc or copper (to name a few metals) or an outright ban on some common fishing gear. Whether or not the Department of Toxic Substance Control (DTSC) intends to keep fishing gear on its list of regulated consumer products will be known until January 2015. As you may recall, CSL generated nearly 1,200 online signatures for its Stop the Fishing Gear Ban. Simply crossing our fingers and hoping for the best is not good enough for CSL. With your support, we will continue to fight costly regulations that limit access to recreational fishing. Protect recreational fishing by SHARING and LIKING this post!
