House Republican attempts to compel former IRS chief Lois Lerner - TopicsExpress

House Republican attempts to compel former IRS chief Lois Lerner to testify by holding her in contempt of Congress are pure show and no go. She has the same Fifth Amendment rights against self-incrimination as every other American. Legal commentators who go on television to explain that somehow her constitutional rights are less than every other American are performing low-brow political spin not true legal/constitutional analysis. The Republicans should recall how contempuous they were of Democratic attempts to compel Bush Administration officials to testify under similar circumstances in 2008. These imprudent, basely political actions only cost taxpayer money with zero benefit to taxpayers. These spinsters have no shame. Further, elected officials should not be surprised when voters get turned off to their hysterical posturing. And the real pity is that true fact-finding, as is required with Benghazi, will almost certainly not happen in the halls of the Congress of the United States.
