House Wives of Greater Chanute....It is Halloween afternoon and the sky is heavy with clouds and the wind in blowing in a storm. I receive a call from Helen who is in a panic. She has heard that a devil worshiping group have placed lots of their worshiping materials in an ancient cemetery in the community. They are planning to have services there in the evening. Helen thinks there is a possibility they may even sacrifice a blond headed, blue-eyed child. The phone lines are buzzing as we contact the rest of our group. We refuse to allowing something like this to happen in our county. We plan to meet in the cemetery to remove the materials. As we arrive, it is plain to see we are angry and just a tad bit scared. We are busy snatching flower arrangements and other items off the graves. The more we work, the more determined we become. It is almost dark and some rain drops begin to fall when from behind a large stone someone covered in a white sheet steps out! Screams can be heard two counties away as we all begin to make a mad dash to our cars. Motor roar and we head to the cemetery exit where there is a three car pile-up. Our ghost runs toward us laughing and removing his sheet to reveal he is one of our husbands. He says he is just trying to teach us to mind our own business and stay out of things that are none of our business. Thank goodness no one was hurt, but Edd Anderson will be busy trying to repair the damage to the cars. Someone has said that Edd is having problems working on some of the cars because the insides have a strong sewer odor in them!
