House fire in Blakeview Just before midday today, CFS and MFS crews were called to a house fire on Finniss St in Blakeview. A neighbour noticed that the front of a two-story duplex property was alight, and immediately contacted triple zero. Around 15 firefighters took approximately 20 minutes to extinguish the blaze, preventing it from spreading through not only to the upper story of the house, but to adjoining properties. It is believed that a gas main at the side of the house exploded, and ignited the front of the home. Fortunately no one was home at the time of the gas explosion, including the neighbours directly on either side of the property. Damage is estimated at between $70-100K and Fire Cause Investigators have been called and are currently en route to the scene.
