House fire – Denistone At 12:21pm on Tuesday 7 October 2014, Fire Rescue and police were called to a house fire in Anthony Road, Denistone. Upon attending, police observed a large amount of smoke emitting from the home and fire rescue were in the process of extinguishing the fire. Police closed Anthony Road, between Park Avenue and West Parade, to the public for approximately three hours. The owner of the premises attended the location a short time later and confirmed that there were no persons inside the home. The fire was extinguished and Fire Investigators assessed the scene. The fire was deemed to be accidental by the fire investigator due to a faulty power board. The fire originated in the spare bedroom and spread to an adjacent bedroom, the kitchen and the roof. The damage is estimated to be approximately $60,000.
