House wives of Greater Chanute.....The wives have been very busy with our winter projects. During one of our work sessions we started talking about how much we hated doing laundry and ironing. Everyone was in agreement that we should come up with a solution to this awful chore. We decided that since we live in a throw-away society that it was obvious we had to develop throw-away clothes. We discussed and tried many materials. Aluminum foil was too stiff, winkled, and made too much noise. Wax paper was see through, so it was out. We finally settled on freezer wrap. We designed the paper and made a beautiful suit out of it by using tape and staples. Fruit Loops was chosen to test the design since she was the smallest. On Sunday we all went to the local church to see what response Fruit Loops got (and to hear a good sermon). Everything went fine until we stood for the invitation hymn and Fruit Loops dropped her song book and bent to pick it and her skirt ripped and she let loose with a loud squeal. The men of the church thought she was in the spirit and came to take her down to the river for a baptism. She was so distrait that she could not tell them what was wrong. When they brought her up she squealed again and they dunked her again. After the third time she decided she had to be quiet or they were going to drown her or freeze her to death. She finally came out shaking and her dress falling apart into pieces. We all rushed around her and tried to cover her with our church bulletins. She is still upset and acts as though she may need therapy before she can join our group in future activities! We regrouped to see what we learned from this experience. 1. Be quiet when you are in a lively church service if you dont want to go down to the river. 2. Paper does not make durable clothing. 3. We would all have to do laundry on Monday morning!!!!
