Housekeeper - Part Time City of Parma - Parma, OH JOB SUMMARY The Part-time Housekeeper keeps the building clean and orderly at the Parma Justice Center and works under the supervision of the Facility Manager or the Maintenance Specialist. The position is classified as Civil Service. The hourly rate is $14.03. WORK ACTIVITIES Cleaning Duties • Sweeps, mops, waxes, buffs and scrubs all floors* • Dusts, waxes, washes and polishes furniture and woodwork* • Vacuums all rugs* • Cleans rest rooms* • Washes tiled walls and floors* • Cleans sinks and kitchen equipment* • Operates floor scrubber and floor waxing machine* • Cleans interior windows* • Cleans stairs and elevators* • Cleans light fixtures, woodwork and windows in Courtrooms (requiring use of a six (6) foot ladder)* Other Duties • Reports maintenance needs+ • Empties trash containers* • Reports safety hazards+ cont. nxt. Pg….. • Replenishes supplies* • Reports supply needs+ • Performs all other related duties as assigned *Essential Job Functions +Essential Job Functions, Scheduling Accommodations Possible TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED • Cleaning agents and materials • Broom, bucket, dust rags, scrub brushes, sponges, etc. • Floor scrubber and buffing and waxing machine • Window cleaning tools • Vacuum cleaner • Ladder • Carpet cleaner JOB CONTEXT The Part-time Housekeeper normally works 20-25 hours per week, between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. This position is part-time and operates 12 months a year. Stress level is minimal. The physical activities of this position are moderate to high. Some lifting may be required. JOB QUALIFICATIONS Upon hire, a part-time housekeeper must have: • A high school diploma or equivalent • Six months experience in janitorial work preferred • The ability to understand and carry out verbal and written directions • The ability to comprehend written warnings on cleaning products • The ability to perform minor maintenance on cleaning equipment • The ability to run a floor scrubber, a carpet cleaner and a floor buffing machine • The ability to understand, read and write English • The ability to get along with others After hire, a Part-time Housekeeper must have: • An understanding of the workings of the Justice Center. In accord with the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Cit of Parma and AFSCME Local #3924 which expires on October 31, 2014 the hourly rate for the position of Part-time Housekeeper is $14.03.
