How Big Brown stole his Christmas: After my holiday GoodWill trip to buy Dukes holiday stuffed animals, I snuck them into the laundry and then wrapped them in a corrugated cardboard box, to be opened with the rest of the family on Christmas morn. Presents have been under the tree for weeks and he has NEVER shown them any interest except for the occasional approving sniff of an elaborate wrap job, in fact he has shown very little interest in anything other than eating, having his picture taken and going for a walk, nor has he every exerted the effort to destroy anything. Upon returning from a Christmas party last night, we were greeted by a very proud large brown dog with not 1 but 4 new-to-him toys crammed in his mouth. While we were gone he decided to unwrap his present, just his. Not a single other box was touched. He never saw me bring in the toys, they were laundered and had no unique smell, I didnt tease him with the box after it was wrapped, and it didnt stand out from any of the other packages except for being addressed to him. I think he just proved one thing to us...clearly, he can read.
