How Can Tan Sri Muhyidin Yassin’s Threats On Another May 13 - TopicsExpress

How Can Tan Sri Muhyidin Yassin’s Threats On Another May 13 Incident Be Merely A Reminder To All When He Only Highlighted That Malays And Muslims Continue To Be Insulted? DAP regrets that Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin has taken the easy and irresponsible route of lying by claiming, that his statement warning of another May 13 race riots was manipulated to be a threat against non-Muslims and non-Malays when he meant it as a reminder to all Malaysians applying to both Malays and non-Malays. How can Tan Sri Muhyidin Yassin’s threats on another May 13 incident be merely a reminder to all Malaysians when he only highlighted that Malays and Muslims continue to be insulted? If Muhyiddin had been sincere in issuing this reminder to all Malaysians then he should have said that all Malaysians have been insulted by extremists instead of only falsely spotlighting Muslims and Malays as victims and by implication that non-Malays and non-Muslims are to be blamed. By identifying Muslims and Malays as the injured party by being continually insulted, Muhyiddin is clearly making a threat to firstly dehumanize non-Muslim and non-Malays as well as absolving BN from blame in any future May 13 incidents. What is most shocking is that instead of criticizing Muhyiddin, MCA President Liow Tiong Lai and Gerakan President Mah Siew Keong have tried to whitewash Muhyiddin’s threats by callously and casually dismissing it as merely a reminder. Both leaders also did not dare to object to Muhyiddin’s earlier renounciation of 1 Malaysia by stressing that he is a Malay first and a Malaysian second. No sane, loyal and peace-loving Malaysian wants another May 13 incident. DAP has openly announced that we are willing to work with anyone to prevent another May 13 based on the principles of mutual respect of human rights and dignity as well as fundamental freedoms, justice and democracy. Muhyiddin has continued making these threats in the latest July 6 Bernama where he claimed that there was mounting pressure from various quarters questionning the implementation of laws by the syariah court as well as on Islam. Again he is only highlighting Muslims and Islam being pressured. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak had advised the non-Muslim and non-Malay community not to take seriously the racist and extremist remarks made by UMNO leaders because these are individual views and not representative of UMNO. Only statements made by UMNO President, Deputy President and Ministers represent UMNO. Here are remarks made both by Najib and Muhyiddin. If that is the case, why does Najib appears to be endorsing the terrorist and murderous organization of Islamic State of Iraq and Levant(ISIL) by asking UMNO members to emulate the courage of ISIL fighters. To-date Najib has still not withdrawn such remarks for UMNO members to have the courage of ISIL fighters known for suicide bombings that kill innocent civilians and children. The time has come for Malaysia to focus on uniting the people against hunger, poverty, injustice, ignorance, corruption, cronyism, abuse of power, rising prices that reduce our standard of living and denying equal economic, employment and educational opportunities to ordinary Malaysians without political connections. These problems can not be overcome by dividing the people with threats and pitting one community against the other. Only when we overcome these social and economic problems together, will there be united Malaysia nation for all. LIM GUAN ENG
