How Can We Reach Boston? Posted on Apr 21, 2014. Topic: Features Ministry Updates Testimonies Field Reports Ibi is a Muslim immigrant from Palestine. While imprisoned, he listened to Leading The Way programming every week because it was the only source of comfort he could find in his mother tongue. Roda could not get her son to read the Bible or listen to any Christian messages. As she spoke primarily Arabic, and he spoke primarily English, language was a barrier. But one day, while riding in the car, they were both able to connect spiritually as they heard Dr. Youssef’s message broadcast in both English and Arabic. After a church member shared details of Leading The Way’s local radio program with a Muslim taxi driver, the taxi driver replied, I listen to this every week! The first time I found this station, I couldn’t believe that I was hearing something in my own language in America. Ibi, Roda, and the Muslim taxi driver all shared the same need: access to the Gospel in their own language. But what other surprising similarity do these Leading The Way listeners share? They do not live in the Middle East or North Africa—they live in Richmond, Va. In March 2013, faithful partners like you helped us raise the funds we needed to continue Arabic-English broadcasting in Richmond. These are the testimonies we received in response—testimonies of God transforming hearts and overcoming language barriers in our own backyard. Several weeks later on April 15, 2013, two bombs exploded at the Boston Marathon, killing three people and injuring hundreds more. It was later revealed that the event was a blatant terrorist attack executed by two young Muslim extremists. The impact of our outreach on the Muslim community in Richmond got us thinking—how can we reach Boston? Although Leading The Way broadcasts in over 20 languages, we place a special emphasis on broadcasting in Arabic—both internationally and domestically—as Arabic is traditionally associated with Islam. Boston has one of the largest Arabic-speaking populations in the nation, and we have been working diligently to reach this community. Today, as runners celebrate the end of a safe race at the 2014 Boston Marathon, we are excited to celebrate our own victory—the beginning of new Arabic broadcasting to Boston through WNTN 1550 AM. We believe that the same dual-language broadcasts that impacted the Muslim community in Richmond will continue to touch people in Boston like Ibi and Roda—those who are only one radio broadcast away from knowing Christ as the Gospel is shared in their own language. Islam is more than a religion—it is a political system encompassing culture, politics, and religion. Not only is there a spiritual danger with the rise of Islam, but a political danger from the integration of Sharia law. We must be vigilant in sharing the Gospel with those immigrating to the United States. Thank you for your support as we continue proclaiming the uncompromising Truth of Christ. Will you continue helping us fund our Arabic outreach here at home and around the world? Partner with us today.
