How Dangchu wangcu came into exist as shared by the Local people. One of the reincarnation of Terton Dorji Lingpa who was originally from Paro passed away in Sheka Dra in Dangchu. His followers wanted to take the body to Paro but the dead body got heavier when they reached the place where presently the Chuba Chorten is located. Therefore they decided to do the Purjang in that place exactly where Chuba Chorten is located, which is next to Gewog Administration Office. After the Purjang the Chorten was built as his remembrance and Khenchen Sonam Yoezer was requested to perform the consecration rituals. During the consecration ceremony people of Dangchu requested for a Jabthruel and Wang from Khenchen. Khenchen than informed the people to bring water from the place where presently the Dangchu Wangchu is located. People informed that there is no water but Khenchen told them to go and see, and surprisingly people found the water. Than Khenchen used that water to give Jabthruel through his Bumpa and informed public that it can be used to cure defilements and other sickness in the future. Therefore it is known as Dangchu Wangchu which means water created during wang ceremony.
