How I Will Fire Kevyn Orr To all Detroiters and those who believe in Detroit. Emergency Manager Kevyn Orr’s latest statement that Detroit’s problems are because our fathers and mothers were “dumb, lazy, happy and rich” is another reason why I will fire him when elected Mayor. Experts say Mr. Orr’s bankruptcy will take 10 years to unravel and make his friends over $100 million in legal fees, but in filing for bankruptcy Mr. Orr has nullified his own position. Subsection 11 U.S.C. 301 of the Federal Bankruptcy Code reinstates the supremacy of “elected officials” through the bankruptcy process. Why, then, is Mr. Orr still in power? The answer is simple: because Mayor Bing has not asked the court to remove him. And there are many more avenues for the removal of Mr. Orr, all legal and expedient. As Mayor, if we must go through bankruptcy, I will make it fast, fair and transparent, putting the focus back on our neighborhoods. We’ll hire unemployed Detroiters to clean up vacant lots, tear-down abandoned buildings and re-build our neighborhoods. By saving the money Mr. Orr and his legal friends would cost the City we can strengthen and improve our police and fire departments, reduce response times and save lives. Or we can elect candidates like Benny Napoleon and Mike Duggan whose roots are in the crony-filled administrations of McNamara, Kilpatrick and Ficano. Please vote August 6th, Krystal A.
