How I lost 40 Pounds with Hiit So…I have had a really hard time putting my “before” picture out there for the world to see. But I want to conquer my fears and show you that HIIT workouts WORK. This is a picture of me when I was at my heaviest…GRANTED I was pregnant, but I gained almost 70 pounds (67 to be exact) during both of my pregnancies. I was hoping to give birth to a 45 pound baby, but they were only 7 pounds. Do the math…I had a lot of weight to lose. Watching what I ate was hard, but slowly the pounds started coming off. I hit a plateau because eating healthy and taking walks (I sometimes jogged) only took me so far. I had to do something different and I knew it wasn’t going to be easy. But what? Where was I going to find at least an hour and a half to get to the gym? I had 2 very small children and that was no easy task to pack us all up. Number 1: Find the motivation to go. Then get dressed. Then get the kids dressed. Don’t forget all of their gear too (diapers, wipes, change of clothes). Pack them in the car, get them out of the car, check them into babysitting, then FINALLY, workout for an hour praying they don’t call me over the loud speaker that I need to go tend to my kids. PHEW! I am exhausted just thinking about all of this! There HAD to be a better, more efficient way to get in shape! I searched and I searched…I was beginning to feel hopeless. (side note: In the “Before” picture, I was 8 months pregnant. I wasn’t even at my biggest! Towards the very end of my pregnancy, I avoided cameras as best I could…that’s me on the right). Luckily, I found HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training). They were workouts that I found online…15-20 minute workouts using only my body weight and I could do them in my own back yard? It seemed too good to be true. I gave them a try. What did I have to lose besides 40 pounds? Oh my gosh! After the first workout I was HOOKED! While the kids were napping, I’d go outside, set my timer, and off I went! I even had time to get showered and dressed right after before they woke up! When I first started, I couldn’t do a regular push up. I shook all the way down and all the way up doing them from my knees. After pushing myself harder and harder every workout, I was able to add more and more regular push ups. I started adding more and more weight to my sandbag. I was watching the pounds melt away! After doing HIIT workouts consistently for about 8 months, I noticed I was always feeling hot…my metabolism was speeding up. I would have bread with my meals and dessert after dinner and didn’t gain weight like I used to. (Believe me, I still gain weight, just not as fast as before). Before HIIT workouts, I couldn’t even smell bread without gaining 5 pounds. Haha! (True story). I used to pray that there would be that “magic pill” that would miraculously show up in nutrition stores. HIIT workouts are the closest thing I have found to that! Yes, you have to put in work, but 15-20 minutes on average? There are no excuses! I am constantly putting several workouts on my YouTube channel and have even put a bunch out there on the Daily HIIT. I put together workouts that are fun and hardcore at the same time. I always show the modifications so that a beginner can do them as well. Remember, I was a beginner, too. Push your fitness to that next level and watch your body transform. If I could do it, YOU can do it!!!
