How I voted (measures first, then people): 86: yes. Costs the state nothing, helps people pay for college. 87: yes. No-big-deal; allows judges to teach in public schools and serve in the military. 88: yes. The opposition are a bunch of racists. Dont be Arizona. 89: yes. Because the Equal Rights Amendment should have passed decades ago. 90: no. For a bunch of reasons. The simplest way to put it: I dont want Republicans voting in the Democratic primary (or vice versa). There are better solutions that just need a little more help to get on the ballot. States that have implemented this particular brand of electoral repair have seen higher costs and lower turnout. Election reform is possibly my primary issue, I know waaay too much about it, and I will happily bend your ear about this one if you have questions. 91: yes. Its about time. End prohibition, again. 92: yes. This ones about consumer choice. (Come to think of it, thats another argument related to M90... but I digress.) 26-159: yes. Shall we take care of our parks and playgrounds? I like to think so. If we cant take care of our toys, they will go away. 26-160: no. I love high-density cities in Europe, where its easy to get to the countryside and everything is walkable. Lets move Portland in that direction, rather than (like San Francisco) bizarrely preventing ourselves from making certain kinds of zoning decisions. Protect the nearby natural settings, prevent urban sprawl, and make more walkable neighborhoods. Vote no. 26-161: yes. Educate the future workforce of Portland. Senator Jeff Merkley. I love Jeff, and Im proud to call him my Senator. Congressman Earl Blumenauer. Im proud of him, too. Governor John Kitzhaber. I love many of the things hes done for the state, and I cant stand the thought of his opponent getting into office. Rep Rob Nosse. A long-time champion of causes I care about. A freshman in the Oregon House. Lets see what he does in the legislature! Uncontested races: no vote; protesting the absence of a real race.
