How NOT to cite a news source. The blog Americans Against the Tea - TopicsExpress

How NOT to cite a news source. The blog Americans Against the Tea Party claimed in a recent post on Texas history textbooks (I posted it just below here) that Recently, Texas Tech students, more than 80 percent of whom are from the state, were found to be unable to answer basic U.S. history questions. Many...were unable to say who won the Civil War, and from whom America won its independence. They were, however, able to answer questions about Jersey Shore. Their evidence for this claim came from this: a segment from a Texas Tech student TV show called Politically Challenged. It certainly does not qualify as any kind of serious study or studies into the topic and does not prove anything. Also, check out a few of the comments from actual Texas Tech students on the Youtube page who dispute this video as representing their school in general and that people who answered correctly were edited out. So, without further adieu, heres some edited footage of a small group of Texas Tech students failing simple questions on U.S. history. Just remember, check your sources when citing something and always be a little suspicious of blogs with an overt political bias. Enjoy...
