How True! Studies show that people who get their info from FOX are actually less well informed than people who watch no TV news. Worse than uninformed, they are deliberately ILL informed. I have a friend who Im pretty sure is a FOX fan just by the things she says. I complained about the prices at the local clinic and she blamed Obamacare. I tried to tell her that Obamacare has nothing to do with the prices they set, have tried multiple times to tell her it is a place to buy insurance but she seems to think that every single action in medicine is now dictated by Obama. I told her I was a little tight on money this month and she suggested I get food stamps! I told her in no way would I qualify for food stamps, they are for the needy. I may be headed that way but not there yet. This woman knows I own my home and have some savings so why would she think I could, let alone should, get food stamps? Shes a technophobe so doesnt use the computer at all and goes off on a rant whenever computers are mentioned. Otherwise shes a very pleasant, intelligent, fun and able woman despite her age and medical challenges. Where would she get such ideas? I havent wanted to start anything so I havent asked her if shes a FOX fan but Id bet she is just from things shes said. Its really sad. Back in 2003 I was briefly in a community email thing from my old home town in rural Illinois. I was the ONLY ONE on there who wasnt buying the bullshit about the war, the rest were all hysterical and fearing theyd find a Muslim under their beds, it seemed. This is a right-wing, Bible-thumping crowd who would not tolerate anything resembling discussion and debate. The end came when I quoted the well-known statement to the effect that when tyranny comes to the U.S. it will be wrapped in a flag and carrying a Bible. I was accused of abuse! So I dropped out, it was a waste of time. They were buying that War 200% without any questions and denied every fact and person who objected to it. It turned out pretty much like many of us predicted at the time.
